The Jennifer Mudd Houghtaling Postpartum Depression Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Chicago, Illinois that seeks to educate health professionals about the symptoms, dangers and treatments for postpartum depression.〔(Official website )〕 After their daughter Jennifer lost her battle with postpartum depression in 2001, her parents, Joan and Charles Mudd, launched the organization to help other women who suffer from the same illness.〔 According to the ''Chicago Tribune'' in 2003, "The Jennifer Mudd Houghtaling Intervention Program for Postpartum Depression at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare is primarily funded by a donation from Jennifer's father, a retired pathologist. In late January, a 24-hour-a-day hot line went into operation. When a woman calls, the hot-line worker finds out what kind of help she needs and refers her, if necessary, to someone who will see her within 48 hours."〔http://my.chicagotribune.com/#section/-1/article/p2p-26746246/〕 Since 2004, the foundation has worked to spread awareness of the dangers of postpartum depression. In 2008, Mercy Hospital and Medical Center hosted the Jennifer Mudd Houghtaling Perinatal Depression Conference at the University Club of Chicago.〔http://www.postpartumprogress.com/come-see-me-in〕 ==See also==
